Its primary function is to take incoming power and distribute it to multiple circuits, ensuring safe and organized delivery to lights, appliances, and equipment while preventing electrical hazards .Key Internal ComponentsMain Switch / Isolator: Controls the entire power supply entering the distribution box. It allows manual disconnection of all circuits for maintenance or emergencies. The isolator provides physical separation but does not offer overload or short-circuit protection, which must be handled by downstream breakers .Circuit Breakers: Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs) and Moulded Case Circuit Breakers (MCCBs) protect individual circuits from overloads and short circuits. They automatically trip when electrical faults occur, preventing damage and fire hazards .Residual Current Devices (RCD/RCCB/RCOBO): Detect leakage currents and cut off power to prevent electric shocks and reduce fire risk.
